Chris Snyman

Chris Snyman (b. 1967) is an accomplished artist working across various mediums, including pen & ink, mixed media & oil, and metal sculpture. A qualified master goldsmith, he runs ‘Crow’s Nest Jewellery & Art’ in Swakopmund, where his work spans both fine art and custom jewelry design. He moved to Namibia in 2006.

Having studied at Pretoria Technikon School of Art, Chris brings a unique blend of technical expertise and creative expression to his pieces. He designed of the prestigious trophy for the Bank Windhoek Triennale and has participated in numerous solo exhibitions in Namibia, as well as collaborative exhibitions in both Namibia and Europe.

Chris draws inspiration from iconic artists like Picasso, Modigliani, Herman van Nazareth, Basquiat, and contemporary Brazilian art. His artistic style is heavily influenced by storytelling, where crude brush strokes, humorous details, and provocative colors come together in unexpected compositions. These elements infuse his work with energy and movement, inviting the viewer to embark on a journey into a world that feels both intimately recognizable and new.

Chris shares his creative life with his life partner, Sigi Kolbe an artist and yoga teacher, and his daughter. Together, they embrace a life dedicated to creativity and exploration.
