‘I attempt to create paintings the same way one would code a program or render an image on a computer. I emulate binary coding by stamping words and numerals with paint until an image is formed. The result is a pixelated image etched in text.

I create a stamp using foam letters and a slab of wood. Dictionary.com on Instagram is generally a major source for inspiration when it comes to the words I use that form my stamp. They generally use unusual words which I find fun and love making connections with my portraits/subjects. What came first, the word or the portrait? It alternates. Sometimes I am inspired by an unusual word and other times by an interesting face.’
